- Dial An iron is an ironing service started on the enterprise allowance scheme 1988. Sole owner. Sandra finlayson , at the time I was a single parent. With a great 12 year old son , Kipps whom I loved and a newborn Alexandrea , I always worked and away from home. I hated it so, my best friend was at home with me one evening. Kids in bed ,we were in kitchen (me doing the ironing). Grace said what a good ironer you are !! I laughed , she said Lottie her sister needed someone lol. We all went to Blackpool for the weekend and grace said. What about a name so sitting underneath the tower , we both came up with Dial An Iron. The logo. An old phone , no push buttons in these days. But most of all my mum Molly Mackinnon I owe this to , do your Dads shirts I did and received half a crown. Lol to go to the Regal Ballroom in. Bonnyrigg the dancing 1965. The end
